A World UNESCO Site
Midway on Vietnam’s Central coastal littoral lies Vietnam’s third largest city, Danang. From the 2nd-century AD the Danang area was the heart of the Indianized Kingdom of Champa. The relics of this
vanished Hindu empire are preserved in the Cham Museum founded in 1905 as the E’cole Francaise d’Extreme Orient by the French. The museum contains spectacular sandstone sculptures of the former Indian
influenced kingdom. The world famous China Beach is also in Danang along with Marble Mountain which contains quantities of Buddhist shrines and temples which cover its hills. Just 27-kilometers south
of Danang is the ancient port city of Hoi An which Marco Polo noted in his journals on his 13th-century visit to China. Japanese covered bridges, ancient Chinese temples, Japanese and Chinese merchant
houses are among the many rich artifacts contained in this ambient small town which is known for its beauty and serenity. There are over 800-structures of historical interest in Hoi An.
