The recently improved highway from Hanoi to Ha Long Bay makes the a trip to the bay a day excursion from Hanoi rather than a mandatory overnight stay; an overnight stay is still possible or those wishing to spend more time at Ha Long Bay.

Vehicle Transportation: Ground transportation is the only realistic way to reach Bai Chay, the Gateway to Ha Long Bay. The trip is approximately 2.5 hours on a newly rebuilt roadway.

Day 1 : Morning departure for Bai Chay via vehicle.
