Day 1 Depart Los Angeles International Airport at noon on Asiana
Airlines flight OZ-201 for Seoul, Korea. Day 4 8:00 am prompt morning departure for the Cu Chi Tunnels, 30-kilometers from Saigon city center. Tour the world famous tunnels and the Ben Duoc Temple dedicated to the nearly 50,000 NLF soldiers who died here. Continue on to the Cao Dai Holy See nearby the Cambodian border. Attend the “high-noon” service in the Great Temple. The religion fuses Christianity, Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism, native animistic beliefs into an amalgam of color and splendor. Return to Saigon for a free evening. Day 5 8:00 am prompt check-out and proceed by vehicle to the Mekong Delta. Cross Long An Province and arrive My Tho. Cross the newly completed My Thuan Bridge which is the first bridge to cross any of the Goliath Mekong’s five-major distributary rivers. Continue through Vinh Long to the Bassac River and cross the completely new built Can Tho bridge. Transfer to your hotel and check-in. Balance of the Can Tho tour including the Ninh Kieu Wharf the busiest commercial wharf in the Mekong Delta, the Can Tho Market on Hai Ba Trung Street, the Cantonese Congregation Pagoda on the riverfront and the Munirangsyaram Pagoda, followed by a one-hour Xe Loi motorized cyclo ride in Can Tho and the surrounding area accompanied by your guide on a separate Xe Loi. Day 6 7:30 am prompt departure via your personal rivercraft to the Cai Rang Floating Market, a cacophony of chaos with hundreds of boats buying and selling everything from bananas and coconuts to freshly slaughtered pork and sugar cane. Return to Can Tho via boat. Check-out of your hotel and return to Saigon and your hotel via vehicle. Free evening. Day 7 Morning check-out at 9:45 am and transfer to Saigon’s Tan Son Nhut Airport to connect with Vietnam Airlines flight VN-322 departing for Danang at 11:30 am and arriving at 12:40 pm. Meet guide and driver and proceed on a brief Danang city tour followed by a visit to the Cham Museum, formerly the Ecole Francaise d’Extreme Orient. The museum contains exquisite limestone carvings from the vanquished Kingdom of Champa [4th century to 18th century], a Hindu kingdom which inhabited the central coastal littoral prior to the march of the Vietnamese nation south. The carvings contain examples of Hindu altars, lingas, garudas, ganeshas and representations of Shiva, Brahma and Vishnu. Continue on to the Furama Resort at China Beach for an optional lunch and a stroll on the famous beach. Continue to Hoi An, just south of Danang and check-in your hotel. Free balance of the day. Day 8 All day walking and cyclo tour of this ancient town which Marco Polo noted in his 13th-Century journals on his visit to China; Hoi An, a UNESCO site, contains over 800-structures of historical interest including Japanese covered bridges, ancient temples from the various parts of China and Chinese merchant houses. Free evening. Day 9 Free day to enjoy the state-of-being in Hoi An. Day 10 9:00 am check out and proceed to Hue via vehicle. Stop at the towering Hai Van Pass (Pass of the Ocean Clouds) enroute for a spectacular view of Vietnam’s Central Coastal Littoral. Arrive Hue and check-in your hotel. All afternoon tour of the Forbidden Purple City, a smaller replica of China’s Forbidden City and a UNESCO site. Tour of the former Royal Citadel including: the Flag Tower, the 9-Holy Cannons, Ngo Mon Gate, Great Rites Court, Palace of Supreme Harmony, Halls of the Mandarins, the Bronze Urns, Ham Lien Pavilion, the Nine Dynastic Urns, the Nguyen Dynastic Temple and the Thai Binh Reading Room. Return to your hotel for a free evening. Day 11 Morning dragon boat trip to the Thien Mu (Heavenly Mother) Pagoda, symbol of the City of Hue on the banks of the Perfume River. Proceed via vehicle to the Valley of the Royal Tombs to visit the tombs of Khai Dinh and the tomb of Tu Duc. Return to Hue for a Hue city tour including: ancient downtown Hue and the Central Market. Return to your hotel for a free evening.
Day 12 Free morning until 10:00 am check-out and transfer to Hue’s
Phu Bai Airport to connect with Vietnam Airlines flight VN-244
departing for Hanoi at 12:05 pm (noon) and arriving at 1:15 pm. Meet
guide and driver and transfer to your hotel. Late afternoon/early
evening visit to Hoan Kiem Lake (Lake of the Restored Sword), the
The Huc (Rising Sun) Bridge the Ngoc Son Temple (dedicated to
national hero Tran Hung Dao, La To, saint of physicians and the
scholar Van Xuong), view Tortoise Pagoda in Hoan Kiem Lake. This
lake area is the emotional vortex of Hanoi and Vietnam. Return to
your hotel for a free evening. Day 21 Arrive Seoul at 7:10 am. Check into a hotel provided by Asiana Airlines to refresh. Free time until 2:00 pm check in for Asiana Airlines flight OZ-202 departing for Los Angeles at 4:30 pm and arriving the same day at noon. Clear customs and immigration.
