Day 1 Depart Los Angeles International Airport on Asiana Airlines flight OZ-201 for Seoul, Korea.

Day 2 Arrive Seoul, Korea at 6:30 pm and connect with Asiana Airlines flight OZ-343 departing for Bangkok at 8:30 pm. Arrive Bangkok at 11:55 pm. Clear customs and immigration, meet guide and transfer to your hotel.

Day 3 Free day in Bangkok.

Day 4 Morning check out and transfer to the airport to connect with TG-691 departing Bangkok at 10:35 am and arriving Vientiane at 11:40 am. Clear customs and immigration, meet guide and transfer to the international terminal for your flight to Luang Prabang, a World UNESCO site. Arrive Luang Prabang, meet guide and driver and transfer to your hotel. Evening Lao welcoming ceremony and dinner.

Day 5 Morning visit to the Lao National Museum of the Lao Royal family followed by visits to the extensive ancient wats spread across the ancient capital of Laos: Wat Xieng [1560], Wat Wisunaiat [1513], Wat Aham and Wat Si Manhathat [1548]. Return to hotel for lunch. Late afternoon climb to the top of Phusi Hill for a spectacular view of the Luang River Valley. Return to hotel, free evening. Free evening.

Day 6 Morning transfer to the Mekong River to board your private rivercraft for a visit up river to the ancient Pac Ou caves. Sack lunch served at the caves. Tour the caves with hundreds of different representations of the Buddha. Return to Luang Prabang via rivercraft. Return to hotel. Free evening.

Day 7 Morning check out and transfer to the airport to connect with your flight to Vientiane. Meet guide and transfer to the international terminal to connect with Lao Airways flight QV-481 departing for Hanoi at 11:30 am and arriving at 12:40 pm (noon). Clear customs and immigration, meet guide and driver and transfer to your hotel. Late afternoon/early evening visit to Hoan Kiem Lake (Lake of the Restored Sword), the The Huc (Rising Sun) Bridge the Ngoc Son Temple (dedicated to national hero Tran Hung Dao, La To, saint of physicians and the scholar Van Xuong), Tortoise Pagoda in Hoan Kiem Lake, the arts gallery across from the The Huc (Rising Sun) Bridge. This lake area is the emotional vortex of Hanoi and Vietnam. Return to hotel. Free evening.

Day 8 All day tour of Hanoi’s two-thousand-year rich cultural legacy: St. Joseph’s Cathedral 1886), Ba Dinh Square: One-Pillar Pagoda (Chua Mot Cot, circa 1049, an architectural masterpiece), Dien Huu Pagoda and Temple of Literature (Den Van Mieu, circa 1070), Vietnam’s first national university. Extensive walking tour of the Old Quarter (Pho Ba Muoi Sau or the Thirty-Six Streets) followed by a cyclo ride to return to your hotel. Evening Waterpuppet Performance, an art-form performed only in
Vietnam.

Day 9 Morning departure for Ha Long Bay via vehicle. Arrive Bai Chay and board your private ocean going vessel for a five hour cruise to a world UNESCO site of 3,000 magical islets and islands dotting an emerald colored sea. Lunch served on board. Return to Bai Chay and return to Hanoi. Free evening.

Day 10 Free morning until 10:50 am check out and transfer to Hanoi’s Noi Bai Airport to connect with VN-247 departing for Hanoi at 12:50 pm. Arrive Hue at 2:00 pm, meet guide and driver and transfer to your hotel. Afternoon tour of the area around the Citadel and the neighborhoods surrounding the ancient Citadel which date to the 17th century. Transfer to the Tinh Gia Vien Restaurant where the food is often photographed before consumption. Return to hotel, free evening.

Day 11 Morning tour of the Forbidden Purple City, a smaller replica of China’s Forbidden City and a UNESCO site. Enter the complex via the Ngo Mon (Noontime Gate) and enter the magnificently restored Thai Hoa Palace. Visit the Royal Library and the recently completely restored Hien Lam Pavilion. Lunch at the Tinh Gia Vien Restaurant. Afternoon boat trip to the tomb of Ming Mang, the Nguyen Dynasty’s second-emperor (1820-1849), in the foothills of the Central Highlands. The tomb is the most harmoniously blended tomb with its natural environment of all of the royal tombs. Return to Hue via boat, stopping at the Thien Mu (Heavenly Mother) Pagoda, symbol of the City of Hue. Lunch served on board the rivercraft. Free evening.

Day 12 Morning check out and departure to Danang via vehicle for Hue. Stop at the towering Hai Van Pass (Pass of the Ocean Clouds) enroute. Arrive Danang and proceed on a brief Danang city tour followed by a visit to the Cham Museum, formerly the Ecole Francaise d’Extreme Orient. The museum contains exquisite limestone carvings from the vanquished Kingdom of Champa [4th century to 18th century], a Hindu kingdom which inhabited the central coastal littoral prior to the march of the Vietnamese nation south. The carvings contain examples of Hindu altars, lingas, garudas, ganeshas and representations of Shiva, Brahma and Vishnu. Continue on to the Furama Resort at China Beach for an optional lunch and a stroll on the famous beach. Afternoon visit to Marble Mountain which contains numerous temples and pagodas and the marble cutters village nearby the mountain. Transfer to Hoi An, just south of Danang, and a proposed World UNESCO Heritage Site. Transfer to your hotel. Free evening.

Day 13 Hoi An is an ancient town which Marco Polo noted in his 13th-Century journals on his visit to China. All day walking tour of this ancient city which contains over 800-structures of historical interest including Japanese covered bridges, ancient temples for various parts of China and Chinese merchant houses. Lunch served at your hotel. Free evening.

Day 14 Morning check out and transfer to the Danang airport to connect with VN-321 departing for Saigon at 8:15 am and arriving at 9:25 am. Meet guide and exit customs and immigration, meet guide and transfer to the international terminal to connect with VN-827 departing for Siem Reap at 11:30 am and arriving at 12:45 pm. Clear customs and immigration, meet guide and driver and transfer to your hotel. Afternoon visit to the
grandest of all ruins, Angkor Wat, a world UNESCO site. Return to hotel, free evening.

Day 15 All day tour of the ruins of Angkor Wat: Angkor Thom and the Southern Gate of Bayon, the temples of Ta Prohm, Ta Keo, Chau Saytevada, Thommnoun, Bontey Kdei, Preh Khan, Neak Poan, Sras Srang and Kravann. Return to hotel for lunch during the day. Free evening.

Day 16 11:00 am check out and transfer to the airport to connect with PG-933 departing at 1:00 pm and arriving Bangkok at 1:50 pm. Meet guide and driver and transfer to the Amari Airport Hotel. Free time until 9:30 pm airport transfer to connect with your returning flight home.

Day 17 Board Asiana Airlines flight OZ-344 departing for Seoul, Korea at 1:00 am and arriving at 8:20 am. At the option of the tour group stay at the AirGarden Hotel in Incheon’s new international airport. Free day until 2:00 pm and check in for OZ-202 departing for Los Angeles at 4:30 pm. Arrive Los Angeles at 1:30 am the same day.
